All professional committees, local institutes and nautical science and technology workers:
This year coincides with the tenth anniversary of General Secretary Xi's "The Belt and Road Initiative", so in response to the national call to build a strong country in marine and transportation, and to actively promote academic development in the field of navigation, China Institute of Navigation (hereinafter referred to as “CIN”) plans to hold an annual academic conference during the Activity Week of Maritime Day of China 2023 (July 9 to July 15 in Cangzhou), and to conduct academic paper presentations, poster presentations and the Outstanding Papers of Maritime Science and Technology Award. The call for papers and posters is hereby launched and the relevant matters are notified as follows:
Ⅰ. Essay Topics
(i) Technology in Navigation and Transportation Safety;
(ii) Technology in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering;
(iii) Intelligent Technology for Water Environmental Protection;
(iv) Technology in Channel and Port Engineering;
(v) Navigation Support Technology;
(vi) Shipping Management Technology;
(vii) Maritime Law and Navigational Culture;
(viii) Other Contents Relating to Marine Technology.
Ⅱ. Paper Collection and Recommendation
CIN evaluates the submitted papers and invites the authors of outstanding ones to participate in the activities of annual academic conference. The invited authors are eligible to participate in the Outstanding Papers of Maritime Science and Technology Award. Both published and unpublished papers are eligible to participate in the selection. And the submission methods are as follows:
1. Papers not yet published or already published in journals other than "Navigation of China" or "Marine Technology", paper and the "Registration Form" (see Annex 3) may be submitted to local institutes of navigation or professional committees of CIN (hereinafter referred to as “recommending institutions”, see Annex 1 and 2 for contact details). From the date of this notice, each recommending institution may also mobilize relevant units and individuals to actively participate in the submission of papers, and organize experts to carry out preliminary examination of the papers. The condition, reviewing process, participated experts, comments and conclusions should be submitted in written form by May 31, 2023 to the secretariat of the institute with no more than nine recommendations, including no more than three published papers.
2.Papers that have been published in "Navigation of Chinaor " or "Marine Technology" in the past 5 years (excluding papers collected in previous academicconferenceson Chinese navigation) should be submitted by the first author via email towangyan@cinnet.cnbefore May 20th, 2023. The email should include the published table of contents or proof of acceptance, and the subject of the email should be "Submission for Annual Academic Conference of CIN 2023- Paper Title."
Ⅲ. Academic posters Collection
Academic posters will be exhibited during the China Maritime Day 2023 event , and research achievements will be disseminated through posters displayed at the venue, exhibition hall, and dedicated web pages. Please submit the academic poster in PPT format and the "Registration Information Form theAcademic Poster of China Maritime Week 2023" (see Attachment 4) todongsw@cinnet.cnby May 20th, 2023. The email subject title should be "Academic Poster ofChina Maritime Week 2023 - Poster Title." The specific requirements are as follows:
1.Please refer to the " Design Reference of Previous Academic Poster Style " (see Attachment 5) when designing the academic poster, and create a file in PPT format.
2.The design and the original files for the academic poster should be completed by the author, with a size of 90×120cm and vertical layout. The clarity requirements should meet the level of printing.
3.If the academic poster submission contains previously published content, it must be limited to works published in "Navigation of China" or "Marine Technology" and must be owned by the copyright holder/team. For unpublished content, a letter of recommendation should be submitted, signed and stamped by the recommending college, research team; or senior expert in the field.
Ⅳ. Papers Selection and Awards
(i) Paper Review
The Secretariat of CIN will organize a second review based on the recommended papers. Papers that pass the review will be invited to participate in the Annual Academic Conference 2023 to share and compete for the Outstanding Navigational Scientific and Technical Papers of CIN .
(ii) Presentation and Recognition
The invited authors may give lectures during the Annual Academic Conference 2023. After the evaluation by the review committee, the proposed list of the first, second and third prizes of the Outstanding Navigational Scientific and Technical Papers of CIN 2023 will be produced. After the publicity, approval and other prescribed procedures, they will be determined and announced officially. CIN will award certificates and prize to the authors. Unpublished award-winning papers will be recommended for publication in "Navigation of China" or "Marine Technology".
Ⅴ. Other Requirements
(i) The submitted paper should be between 5000 and 8000 words, using a unified format (see Annex 6 for details).
(ii) All recommending units shall fully do a good job in the publicity and mobilization of the papers at local and professional areas, and should also pay attention to the contact with key units and the cultivation of the writer group.
(iii) The collection and recommendation work should be strictly checked and standardized. Specifically, we should adhere to the principles of fairness, impartiality and openness, strictly investigate academic misconduct, and pay attention to the system of avoidance for assessment experts.
