Notice on the Selection of China’s Top Ten Marine Sci-Tech Advances of 2020

Members and units concerned,

The slection of China’s Top Ten Marine Sci-tech Advances has been successfully held for eight times since 2012, and the event has had a great impact on the society and received attention from professionals in marine science and technology.

To encourage marine scientific and technological innovation, publicize the field’s achievements and raise the national ocean awareness, Chinese Society for Oceanography, the Pacific Society of China, Chinese Society for Oceanology and Limnology, the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, China Institute of Navigation and Chinese Institute of Command and Control jointly launched the selection of China’s Top Ten Marine Sci-tech Advances of 2020. Details are hereby notified as follows.

Ⅱ. Selection Requirements

1.Time

The advances in marine science and technology from January through December, 2020

2. Requirements for entries

(1) Achievements in marine science and technology and their commercialization which have great domestic and foreign influence in promoting the innovation and advances in marine science and technology, with independent intellectual property rights or high application of domestic technology.

(2) Research in marine science and technology which has the characteristic of being the first and orginal and has a huge academic impact at home and abroad.

(3) The equipment or inventions in marine science and technology which takes the lead or fill the field’s gaps at home and abroad.

(4) Marine scientific and technological activities which promote the economic and social development and have a huge effect at home and abroad.

(5) Other scientific and technological advances that have great influence at home and abroad on the promotion of marine scientific and technological innovation, the development of marine scientific and technological undertakings and the enhancement of the marine consciousness of the whole people.

3. Selection description

(1) The recommended scientific and technological progress must be gained in 2020.

(2) The recommended scientific and technological progress projects must be non-confidential, so as to be disclosed in relevant media.

(3) The recommended equipment and research system applied in marine science and technology must have more domestic technology than foreign technology.

(4) If the recommended scientific and technological advance comes from the reseach project cooperated with foreign countries and has papers published in foreign journals, the first author must be Chinese, and the recommended materials should include the name of the first author, their work unit, publication time, journal, issue number, together with the hyperlink or DOI of the published paper.

(5) The scientific and technological innovation recommended for the entry must be provided with proof of the application and commercialization of scientific and research findings

Ⅲ. Recommendation Method

Members and units concerned are invited to recommend and nominate 1-2 advances in marine science and technology according to the selection requirements. The recommended advances could be achieved by themselves, their teams or units, or by other individuals or units. Please send the completed Recommendation Form of China’s Top Ten Marine Sci-Tech Advances of 2020 to the contact’s email address before December 25, 2020.

Ⅵ. Reviewing procedure

The sponsors will organize experts to conduct preliminary evaluation and conference review on the selected marine scientific and technological advavnces, and form a list of China’s Top Ten Marine Sci-Tech Advances of 2020 based on the reviewed results, which will be submitted to the Standing Council of the Society for deliberation, and after the publicnoticewithoutobjection, the final list will be relased to the society through the media.
