On December 10th, the inaugural meeting of International Technology Alliance for Port & Shipping (ITAPS) and symposium on Green Port & Navigation were held online, marking the establishment of ITAPS, which is jointly initiated by China Institute of Navigation (CIN) and relevant units in the field of port and shipping at home and abroad. The Alliance aims to build a platform for international science and technology cooperation and exchange to promote cooperation and sharing of port and shipping technology research and development among countries and regions. At present, 21 domestic and overseas institutions have joined the Alliance.
HE Jianzhong, president of CIN, said in his speech that in the future, the Alliance should follow the new trend of green, low-carbon and intelligent development, promote the deep integration of new technology and the shipping industry, strengthen the research and development of green and low-carbon technology, and promote the digital transformation of the shipping industry and the development of intelligent shipping. We should create a new situation of win-win cooperation in international maritime science and technology, promote the formation of a science and technology innovation system for port and shipping that deeply integrates industry, university, and research institute, and enhance the overall efficiency of the innovation chain and the efficiency of collaborative innovation. We should constantly enrich the work content, innovate activity forms, and strive to enhance the organizational cohesion, academic leadership and international influence of the alliance.
ZHANG Baochen, convener of the Alliance and executive vice president of CIN, presided over the inaugural meeting. Hesham Helal, chairman of the Arab Institute of Navigation, and ZHAO Ruheng, vice president of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, attended and addressed the meeting. More than 30 representatives of the Alliance member units attended the meeting. The meeting deliberated and adopted theConstitutionsof International Technology Alliance for Port & Shipping, and elected members of the interim executive committee. FEI Weijun, director of China Waterborne Transport Research Institute, was elected the first chairman of the Alliance, and Hesham Helal, director general of the Arab Institute of Navigation, are among eight people elected the first vice chairmen of the Alliance.

The symposium on green port & shipping was chaired by the first president of ITAPS, FEI Weijun, with the theme of “Leading the Green Development of Port and Shipping”. LIU Yifan, general manager of the Department of Technological Innovation of China Cosco Shipping Group, LIU Xiaofeng, deputy general manager of Technology Center of Greater China Region of DNV, ZHU Jianhua, deputy director of China Waterborne Transport Research Institute, Pham Thi Thuy Van, marketing deputy director of Saigon Newport Group of Vietnam, made speeches and exchanges on the topics of green port and shipping technology research and development and international cooperation progress of China Cosco Shipping Group, scientific research achievements and cooperation of DNV in green shipping technology, development trend of green port and shipping technology, and the latest progress of green port and digital development in Vietnam. Representatives of the Alliance, together with more than 130 scientific and technological workers from domestic and foreign enterprises, universities and research institutions in the field of port and shipping, participated in the green port and shipping symposium.
