Zhang Baochen, Vice President of CIN, Attended the Meeting of the Executive Committee of IAIN

The International Association of Institutes of Navigation (IAIN) held an Executive Committee meeting both online and offline in Baska, Croatia, on 9 May 2022 from 8pm to 10pm, Beijing time. IAIN president Krzysztof Czaplewski (also president of the Polish Navigation Forum), senior vice-president Zhang Baochen (Vice President of the Standing Committee of CIN), former president Jonh Pottle (president of the Royal Institute of Navigation), vice-president Salvatore Gaglione (president of the Italian Institute of Navigation), vice-president Aiden Morrison (chairman of the Nordic Navigation Forum), secretary general Hesham Helal (president of the Arab Institute of Navigation) and CFO Tom William (treasurer of the Netherlands Institute of Navigation) also attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed and adopted the minutes of the second Executive Committee meeting in 2021, the financial accounts for 2021 and the financial budget for 2022, heard reports on the progress of the website revamp, the preparations for the 2024 World Congress, the work of the representatives to international organizations, and also elected the new representatives to the International Hydrographic Organization.

Zhang Baochen introduced the recent progress of the preparations for the IAIN World Congress and the 18th Plenary Assembly to be held in China in 2024, and proposed the next stage of preparatory work, such as the construction of the Congress website, seeking support from government and industry, and the academic call for papers. In order to warm up for the 2024 World Congress, accumulate relevant experience and promote exchanges among institutes, Zhang Baochen suggested that IAIN should hold a symposium in China in 2023, which was unanimously endorsed by the members of Executive Committee.
