The 2021 Annual Academic Conference “Low-carbon Shipping Development” Seminar Of Shipping Environmental Protection And Ecology Committee Of China Institute Of Navigation Was Successfully Held

On Nov. 18, the Committee on Environmental Protection and Ecology of Shipping of the China Institute of Navigation (CIN) successfully held the 2021 Annual Academic Conference, the Seminar on “Low Carbon Shipping Development”. This meeting was jointly held by the Marine Environmental Protection Committee of the International Maritime Research Committee of the Maritime Administration of the People’s Republic of China and this committee, with nearly 200 members, experts and representatives from both sides attending.

Yan Xiaobo, Secretary General of the CIN, and Li Guanghui, Vice Chairman of the Marine Research and Environmental Protection Committee, delivered opening speeches. Seven experts made a wonderful speeches and shared exchanged opinions around the development of low-carbon shipping and other key industry issues. The seven experts were Zhang Chunchang, Shanghai Maritime University, Li Jing, Ministry of Water Science Academy, Gao Xiang, Shenzhen Maritime Bureau, Xie Xin, Shanghai Maritime Bureau, Song Pengfei, Liaoning Maritime Bureau, Chang Wen, Ministry of Water Science Academy, and Wang Jing, International Organization for Standardization Ship and Marine Technology Committee. Mr. Bai Yuming, Deputy Director of the Dangerous Prevention Department of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, and Mr. Zhu Jianhua, President of this Committee, delivered the closing speech. Chen Junfeng, Secretary general of this committee, presided over the meeting.

This joint academic annual meeting is an innovation in the working mechanism of both sides and a specific initiative to implement the requirements of the higher level. In the future, both sides will summarize their experiences, deepen cooperation, continue to organize relevant activities and seminars, gather experts’ views and listen to enterprises’ voices, and work hard to achieve the common goal of “greener shipping and cleaner ocean”.
