On July 24, 2018, the "National Junior Marine Model Championship" kicked off at the China Maritime Museum in Lingang, Shanghai. During the five-day competition, 551 athletes among 46 teams from 15 provinces and cities will compete for medals of 35 categories in 23 marine model events. During the competition, the roaring engine, the galloping speedboat combined with the rolling waves performed the "Fast and Furious" on the water.
Relevant bureau leaders attended the opening ceremony, including Xu Zuyuan, the former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transport and the first curator of China Maritime Museum, Chen Jie, Member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party China Shanghai Pudong New Area Committee, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of Lingang Administrative Committee, as well as other leaders from relevant bureaus such as Shanghai Municipal Commision of Transport, Shanghai Municipal Sports Bureau and the Communist Youth League, Shanghai Committee.
As a national sports event, the National Junior Marine Model Championship is held annually with a wide range of enthusiasts nationwide. It integrates athletics, science and technology, fitness, intelligence and entertainment with high ornamental value, hi-tech content and so on. This championship consists of five categories: simulation model, simulation navigation model, power boat model, durability model and sailing boat model. There are 23 sub-items and 35 groups from static models to dynamic models, individual manipulation competitions to team relay competitions. The audience are welcome to the competition field and feel the charm in model sports of science and technology.
After the opening ceremony, the National Marine Model Exhibition Team drove to the scene an amphibious task force composed of the world's most advanced warships known to us , presenting a splendid visual feast for the audience.
This championship was sponsored by the Aviation Radio Model Sport Management Center of General Administration of Sport of China, Chinese Marine Model Assiociation, Lingang Development and Construction Management Committee of Shanghai, and Shanghai Sport Federation, undertaken by the People's Government of Nanhui New Township, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, China Maritime Museum and Shanghai Marine Model Association, co-organized by Shanghai Science and Technology Art Education Center and Shanghai Haishangfanyou Sailing Yacht Club Management Co.Ltd and supported by Shanghai Municipal Education Committee and the Communist Youth League, Shanghai Committee.
