On October 17, 2016, Yu Shicheng, Vice Chairman of the CIN Standing Committee, met with Zhang Qingfeng, Board Chairman of Taiwan China Marine Industry Association, and his colleagues at the Secretariat conference room of CIN. Guestes from Taiwan include Zhang Qingfeng, Board Chairman of Taiwan China Marine Industry Institute and President of National Taiwan Ocean University, Xu Guoyu, Honorary Board Chairman and Ex-chairman of the Institute, Fang Fuliang, Vice Board Chairman of the Institute and Deputy General Manager of Uni-Wagon Marine Co., Ltd., Zhang Wenzhe, Secretary General of the Institute, and Dean of Studies of NTOU, Guo Junliang, Head of the Department of Merchant Marine of NTOU as well as Tian Wenguo, Professor from the Department of Merchant Marine of NTOU.
Vice Board Chairman Yu Shicheng first extended his warm welcome to Zhang Qingfeng and his colleagues and made a brief introduction to CIN, and Board Chairman Zhang Qingfeng expressed his gratitude to CIN’s invitation. At the meeting, the two sides looked back to the history of two Institutes’ communications, and reviewed the achievements made under the exchanges and cooperation. The two sides conducted hot discussions on the key points and difficulties in developing the Institutes and exchanged ideas on the contents of, ways to and methods of current bilateral exchanges in a cordial, friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere. The focuses of their discussion were the composition of the organizations, and the establishment and operation of the branches. The two sides also exchanged ideas on ways and means to strengthen cooperation in such areas as salvage at sea, promotion of science popularization, academic exchange, maritime shipping, certification of seafarers, abutment of branches, navigation psychology and facility for the construction of “One Belt, One Road”, etc.. Board Chairman Zhang Qingfeng also sincerely invited CIN members to participate in the academic conference organized by Taiwan China Marine Industry Institute.
Both sides agreed that the previous exchanges and cooperation had been fruitful and successful and that efforts should be made to strengthen contacts and enhance mutual visits in order to make the communication more pragmatic, meaningful and effective in the future, thus bringing the cooperation to a new level.
