CIN Pays Close Attention to the Losing Contact with Chinese Sailor Guo Chuan

News from People.CN: Guo Chuan, a China navigator and Chinese professional sailor lost contact with others when his trimaran sailed off the adjacent waters in Hawaii at about 3 p.m., October 25 (Beijing time). He was on a solo non-stop trans-Pacific cruise. The US Coast Guard found Guo’s trimaran on October 26 and confirmed that he was not there after beginning its search.

Guo set sail of his trimaran from San Francisco’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge for Shanghai hoping to set a new solo non-stop trans-Pacific world record.

As a council member of CIN and the first professional offshore sailor in China, sailor Guo Chuan participated in many famous international sailing events and was the first Chinese who finished the solo sailing across the English Channel. Guo, setting off on November 18th, 2012, travelled about 21,600 nautical miles in 138 days and reached Qingdao with his trimaran “Qingdao” finally. The journey made him the first Chinese to accomplish the extraordinary feat.

Upon learning the news, CIN gave a top priority to it, actively contacted with the relevant agencies and departments, kept a close watch on the latest development and would give the support and assistance within its capacity.
