China Institute of Navigation Held the Appraisal of the Project ‘Research and Application of Several Key Technology on Energy Saving and Emission Reduction of Marine Power System’

On 24thAugust, 2016, China Institution of Navigation organized the scientific and technological achievements appraisal meeting for the project "The research and application of key technology on energy saving and emission reduction of marine power system ", which was jointly completed by the Shanghai Maritime University, Kunshan Jiangjin Machinery Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Hujiang Diesel Engine Emissions Detection Technology Co., Ltd. The conference was chaired by Prof. Sun Dunping from China Institute of Navigation. Seven experts formed the Appraisal Committee, namely Prof. Liu Gongchen, previous security director and engineer of Ministry of Transport, Prof. Zhang Peilin from Wuhan University of Technology, Feng Mingzhi, Deputy Chief Engineer of CSIC 711 Research Institute, Prof. Zhang Weijing from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhang Qifa from CSSC , Yang Yong from 708 Institute of China Shipping industry , and Gao Aihua from Wai Gaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Ma Wei from the science and technology department of Shanghai Maritime University and all members of the project attended the meeting.

The project analyzes the key technical issues on marine middle or low speed diesel engine, and studies the integral technology of intelligent low speed diesel engine RT-Flex fuel supply system and crucial elements of common rail. Besides, it makes analysis on the construction of SCR post-processing system, state observation and sensor optimization technology, emission gas test technology of marine diesel engines and establishment of data base, and development and application of marine electric power system generated by various energy sources, and shore power system based on AC/ DC hybrid power system. The achievements of this project have been widely applied in a couple of marine diesel engine companies in Shanghai like Hudong Shipbuilding Co., which improves the manufacturing level of marine low speed engine, reduces the manufacturing cost of marine diesel engine and provides a solid technical and theoretical base for the energy saving emission reduction and sustainable development.

Among the rresearch results, there are 9 patents authorized, 6 software copyrights, 1 compiled monograph and 10 papers published in SCI journals.

The appraisal committee believes that the research results of this project have generally reached the international advanced level, where the theoretical research of SCR system is at the leading level around the world.
